Ham shack
Ive been needing a hobby. Ive been pretty board lately. I quit working out, I put on muscle to fast to get down to my 190 mark. So i really need to hit up the cardio and eat less calories.
I ended up ordering a HF radio to try and listen to some international radio traffic. I didnt have an antenna so I had to make one. After tuning the antenna I started hearing a lot of morse code. I never learned morse code so I found a program that decodes it for you with pretty good accuracy. Turns out I was listening to people from russia, czech republic and some other places that i cant spell. Here are a few pics.
The wire antenna is for 28MHz and runs North to South so I can hear European countries and the USA. The small ground plane antenna is for 144MHz so I can contact Iraqi repeaters. Too bad there is only one in Iraq and its down for maintenance.

Enjoy your hobby! How did you learn to make antennas? I made one for an old TV out of wire...it did not work well.
Congrats on the choice of one great hobby!!
